Veins play a vital role in the circulatory system and most of the time, their life-giving work goes pleasantly unnoticed. However, when veins become a factor that hinders everyday life, it’s time to take a closer look at what’s going on. Vital to overall health, it’s imperative to be aware of symptoms that can occur pointing to a need for vein treatment services. There are a variety of reasons that might lead a patient to seek out a specialist. Those suffering from conditions caused by veins may experience aching, abnormally tired, restless or itchy legs. Swelling may be noticeable after prolonged periods of standing alongside a burning sensation running down the length of the leg. Similarly, those experiencing these symptoms may start to notice protruding veins that could be painful to the touch. Beyond the physical discomfort these symptoms cause, patients are often unhappy with the physical appearance that accompanies changing veins. Our St Louis vein center offers a variety of vein treatments that will ultimately help and reduce the symptoms. When one or more of these symptoms are experienced, it’s a good indicator that it’s time to seek vein treatment services at our St Louis vein center. Advances in modern laser technologies have extended into the field of vein treatment services and patients looking to treat varicose or spider veins can expect to experience a very effective and comfortable procedure. For those requiring treatments specific to venous insufficiency and other symptomatic vein conditions, it’s important to note that many insurance companies will cover the cost of treatment as these are conditions that have the potential to lead to serious medical complications if left unattended. Benefits of Our St. Louis Vein Center Treatment Services Procedures are All Done In Office We offer Multiple Vein Treatment Procedures, including EVLT, RFA, and Sclerotherapy Most Insurance Companies Cover Vein Treatment Recovery Time is Quick, with Few Side Effects The Procedure is Quick and Comfortable Let Dr. Wright help with your Vein Treatment Benefits of Vein Treatment St. Louis Services Dr. Thomas Wright’s vein treatments are a comprehensive, step-by-step process. Top of the line technology provides patients with a quick recovery time and very few side effects. Vein Treatment with EVLT or RFA Endovenous Vein Treatment Vein Treatment with Sclerotherapy Vein treatment services require work on delicate circulatory vessels and it’s important that patients understand the comprehensive approach a vein specialist in St Louis takes when working to correct adverse vein conditions. At the St Louis Vein Center, Dr. Thomas Wright works with patients through a step-by-step process to understand symptoms and determine the correct, personalized solution and treatment. A preliminary examination will be conducted as a way of diagnosing any venous inefficiencies using ultrasound mapping. If it is determined that venous reflux of the saphenous vein is present a treatment option such as EVLT or RFA will be recommended. Actual patient – Individual results may vary Veins are a complex network of vessels that must be treated in a similar manner. It’s essential to determine the underlying problems that may be creating issues with both visible and non-visible veins. Deep branches of veins that are not visible to the naked eye are best treated with Sclerotherapy. Ultrasound guidance is the most efficient way to utilize sclerotherapy and requires the use of a liquid sclerosant as the veins are closely monitored on an ultrasound screen to determine the location of those that may require surgical removal. This type of vein mapping allows for early detection of problematic veins to avoid the development of detrimental medical conditions later in life. Once problematic veins are detected, Sclerotherapy can also be used to treat the issue. Sclerotherapy is a primary procedure in the treatment of both varicose and spider veins as well which are often visible on the surface of the leg. Spider veins are caused by dilations of the most superficial veins under the skin. A vein light can be used to illuminate any hidden vein branches that may be feeding into the spider veins. Using a small needle, sclerosant is injected into the affected veins subsequently irritating the vein lining and causing them to close.

When you’re looking to explore varicose vein treatment in St Louis, make sure to take advantage of a medical evaluation and begin finding a comprehensive solution and treatment plan made to fit your symptoms and help your Varicose Vein disease. Symptoms of Varicose Veins Preventing Varicose Veins Causes of Varicose Veins Development of Varicose Veins Causes of Varicose Veins There is a misconception amongst the general public that the varicose veins cause is exclusively standing too long or participating in extreme exercise activities. Still others believe they are simply a normal development that occurs with age. While there is some amount of truth behind the widely accepted theories, varicose veins are in fact caused by the development of disease in the major leg vein known as the greater saphenous vein. Varicose Vein disease is not reserved for only older individuals. In fact, vein disease can affect patients as young as 20-years-old. Heredity is an important factor when predicting the onset of vein disease closely followed by gender and age. Women tend to suffer from varicose vein disease more frequently than their male counterparts. This is largely due to female hormones that affect vein walls, particularly during pregnancy when this effect is combined with an increase in blood pressure and volume in the veins. Age plays a role in the development of Varicose vein disease as it concerns vein elasticity. Over time, vein walls naturally loosen causing vein valves to become less effective. Anatomy of Leg Veins The greater saphenous vein is the primary vessel in the superficial venous system. It runs from the groin to the ankle and connects to the deep vein system at a number of specific points known as perforator veins. The most common medical origin of varicose veins is recognized as reflux of the greater saphenous vein. This greater web of veins contains a series of one-way valves that ensure blood flows in the direction of the heart. Reflux refers to the failure of these valves to properly direct blood flow. Instead of moving towards the heart, faulty valves allow blood to flow backwards and pool within the walls of the veins in the lower legs. This ultimately causes blue, bulging and painful veins referred to as varicose veins. Development of Vein Reflux Disease For those suffering from varicose reflux disease, there are some important lifestyle factors to keep in mind as a way of slowing the development of adverse symptoms. Obesity, prolonged periods of standing and physical trauma are all factors that increase the effects of vein reflux disease. While they do not cause varicose vein disease, they can provoke its progressive development. Small changes in lifestyle can make a big difference for those looking to reduce symptomatic effects of vein reflux disease. Safe and Effective Varicose Vein Treatment in St. Louis Once an individual recognizes his or her condition as Varicose vein disease, it may be necessary to seek treatment as a way to permanently remove problematic veins. Fortunately, there are a number of highly efficient, safe and successful methods available for varicose vein treatment in St. Louis that don’t require an extensive hospital stay and ensure a quick recovery. A preliminary consultation allows patients to work alongside their attending physician to develop a personalized and comprehensive treatment plan that takes surface-level veins as well as deeper branches of veins into consideration. Treatment options range from laser-based approaches to ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, but the common denominator is a painless and time-efficient procedure for each and every patient. These out-patient procedures are performed right in the comfort of the physician’s office and generally take less than an hour to complete. Patients can expect to walk out of the office unassisted and resume daily activities within a matter of hours. Often needing no more than a simple bandage to cover the site of procedural injection, there’s no need to worry about changing dressings or sticking to downtime for a full recovery. Additionally, many patients find that their vein treatment services are covered by their insurance company due to the fact that many of these treatments are connected to underlying symptomatic venous issues. That’s what makes this procedure the best treatment for varicose veins. Make sure to check with your insurance and see if your plan covers the cost of vein care.

Chronic Venous Insufficiency is considered a serious medical condition that develops in patients as the result of venous reflux. Venous reflux is the backward flow of blood through the veins as a result of faulty venous valves and quickly leads to venous hypertension, inflammation and ultimately tissue damage. In a healthy vein, valves work to keep blood flowing steadily in a direction towards the heart. When vein valves fail, blood is allowed to flow backwards away from the heart and moves towards the feet when a patient stands. As blood flows backwards away from the heart it quickly pools in the veins centered around the legs. Over time, pooling leads to increased pressure on these same veins and results in venous hypertension. This condition directly affects blood circulation in the legs leading to local tissue acidosis and painful inflammation. The inflammation process entails the attachment of white blood cells to the vein walls. White blood cells both provoke inflammation of the veins and release proteinases which works to weaken valves. Both Chronic Peripheral Venous Reflux Disease and Chronic Venous Insufficiency are extremely common, with more than 25 million individuals in the United States suffering from these conditions. It is estimated that these conditions are twice as common as the development of heart disease and nearly five times more prevalent than Peripheral Arterial Disease. Signs and Symptoms Associated with Chronic Venous Insufficiency Chronic Venous Insufficiency often presents with symptoms that may include heaviness, fatigue, and leg cramps. Some patients report sensations of burning and itching along the skin. It is not uncommon for patients suffering from this condition to notice swelling of the legs and ankles. Changes affecting the skin are extremely common for those suffering from Chronic Venous Insufficiency. Nearly a third of patients with this condition will experience Dermatitis or hardening of the skin referred to as Lipodermatosclerosis. Patients with Chronic Venous Insufficiency live with a higher risk for blood clots and leg ulcers. Additionally, complications associated with Chronic Venous Insufficiency place patients at a greater risk of developing Deep Vein Thrombosis, Pulmonary Embolism or bleeding of spider vein networks. Overall, this is considered a highly progressive disease with patients experiencing an increase in noticeable, adverse symptoms year over year. While patients are often unhappy with the cosmetic impacts of this condition, if left untreated, Chronic Venous Insufficiency can lead to much more serious medical complications and should be treated seriously. Chronic Venous Insufficiency Treatment Options Patients suffering from Chronic Venous Insufficiency will often find wearing compression garments helps to reduce the painful symptoms associated with this condition. Similarly, physicians often recommend patient build and stick to a dedicated diet and exercise plan to help promote healthy blood flow. Before moving towards a more invasive treatment method for dealing with Chronic Venous Insufficiency, a patient’s comprehensive medical profile must be taken into consideration to make sure any underlying or associated medical issues that pose more of a serious threat can be attended to first. For this reason, the team at the St. Louis Laser Lipo and Vein Center requires all new patients to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Wright in order to determine a customized treatment plan. An initial consultation also provides a time for patients to discuss any questions, concerns and procedural specific inquiries in a personalized and comfortable setting. Benefits of Sclerotherapy Many patients affected by Chronic Venous Insufficiency will find sclerotherapy to be the recommended route for treatment. While this is one of several options, sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that can be performed in the physician’s office as an out-patient treatment option. Prior to the procedure, the attending physician will clearly mark problematic areas where veins require treatment. Using small incision points, a chemical medication called sclerosant will be injected directly into the problematic veins causing them to collapse, close and ultimately be reabsorbed by the body. This procedure does not require the use of general anesthesia, meaning patients are free from the worries and risks associated with a lengthy hospital stay. Many patients will enjoy a procedure that takes less than an hour and can expect to walk out of the office unassisted after the procedure is complete. Those who elect to treat Chronic Venous Insufficiency with sclerotherapy will likely return to normal activities within a day of treatment and may experience minimal swelling or redness at the injection site.
Although lipedema was first described by Dr. Edgar Allen and Dr. Edgar Hines in 1940 at the Mayo Clinic, many physicians remain unaware of this medical condition or its symptoms. What is Lipedema? Lipedema is a chronic progressive medical disease that causes disproportionate swollen fat deposition in the arms and legs. Lipedema is disproportionate, meaning that fat accumulation is much more significant in the legs and/or arms than in the rest of the body. As lipedema worsens, it causes symptoms in the limbs, which feel heavy and can be painful. Lipedema is associated with easy bruising, especially in the affected limbs. As a result of the lack of awareness, many patients are not diagnosed or properly treated or not treated until they have progressed to more advanced stages of the disease. Other Names and Synonyms of Lipedema Lipedema is also called lipoedema or lipodema, the “swollen fat syndrome”, and the “painful fat syndrome.” In medical literature, lipedema is also referred to by the following medical terms: Lipohyperplasia Dolorosa, Lipalgia, Adipoalgesia, Adiposis Dolorosa, Lipomatosis Dolorosa of the legs, and Lipohypertrophy Dolorosa. What Can Be Confused With Lipedema? Lipedema is well known in Germany and the Netherlands; many textbooks and articles are written about the condition. Although it was initially described here in the United States, lipedema is not well known, and articles and texts are few. This results in confusion and a lack of recognition. Obesity, which causes increased fat all over the body, including the stomach, is sometimes confused with Lipedema. Lipohypertrophy or cellulite, which also causes a disproportionate fat accumulation in the legs, but does not cause pain or swelling, is often confused with lipedema. Lymphedema is also often confused with lipedema. Lymphedema is asymmetric swelling of the limbs often only one arm or leg is affected. Lymphedema causes swelling down to the feet and hands, whereas lipedema spares the hands and feet. Lymphedema is not painful or associated with easy bruising like lipedema. Chronic venous insufficiency can cause swelling and pain; however, it is not usually symmetric, has associated and characteristic skin changes, and usually has varicose veins. Causes of Lipedema and Pathogenesis The exact cause and parthenogenesis of lipedema are not known. It is considered a genetic disorder with autosomal dominant inheritance and sex limitation[2]. It occurs much more frequently in first and second-degree relatives of affected individuals. Reported rates of family clustering are from 16% to 64% of cases[3][4]. Lipedema usually occurs in women, although it can occur in men. Hormonal influences play a role in the development and progression of the disease, and in the majority of patients, the disease usually starts imperceptibly after puberty. Still, it may also develop at other periods of hormonal change, such as pregnancy or menopause. As patients work through getting an official lipedema diagnosis, experts will first need to determine what lipedema stage the patient is currently at. There are three different lipedema stages, or levels of progression, used to evaluate how far the disease has progressed in the affected areas of the body – the first stage is the earliest onset, and the third stage is the most progressed. The Three Stages of Lipedema: Stage 1 Lipedema: skin is somewhat enlarged but smooth. Small nodules may be felt under the surface of the skin. Stage 2 Lipedema: The skin looks bumpy on the surface. Stage 3 Lipedema: increased fat hypertrophy and larger subcutaneous nodules. As lipedema progresses through these three stages, pain, tenderness, swelling, and fat accumulation may increase. The images below provide an overview of the three lipedema stages, showing the location of fat build-up plus the resulting body shape at each stage. Depending on the person, different body parts can be affected in different ways at each stage. Types of Lipedema The Types of lipedema describe the body areas where the lipedema disease is present. More simply, these types refer to the location of the lipedema fat. The 5 types of lipedema were first described by Scmeller and Meier Vollrath, and the criteria by Meier-Volarath in 2007, as described below. Lipedema Type 1: Buttocks, Hips (“Saddlebags”) Lipedema Type 2: Upper Legs Lipedema Type 3: Entire Lower Body Lipedema Type 4: Arms Lipedema Type 5: Lower Legs

One of the most innovative approaches to removing problematic fat deposits, laser liposuction is an extremely efficient, safe and comfortable method available to patients. Approved by the FDA for use in 2006, laser liposuction has quickly become a patient-preferred out-patient method of fat removal. During the procedure, a laser is used to quickly dissolve fat deposits and tighten the surrounding skin. Once fat is removed through suctioning, the aesthetic effects are permanent. Patients often elect to use liposuction with laser for it’s successful sculpting results. Beyond body alteration, laser liposuction is performed without the use of general anesthesia, completely reducing risks associated with extended hospital stays and surgical procedures. The experts at St Louis Laser Lipo can perform this procedure. Ideal Candidates for Smart Lipo in St Louis MO As with any treatment, there are certain qualifications that categorize a potential patient as ideal for the selected approach. Patients who are considering smart lipo in St Louis, MO, should be in overall good health, maintain a healthy body weight in relationship to their height, and participate regularly in physical activities. While St Louis laser liposuction is not intended as a weight loss solution, it can help patients remove stubborn pockets of fat deposits that haven’t disappeared with diet or exercise. Conditions that Disqualify Patients from Using Laser Liposuction Patients considering smart lipo in St Louis, MO with certain underlying conditions will want to avoid this type of treatment as it could result in medical complications. Those suffering from significant chronic liver complications or blood disorders will want to see alternative treatment, as laser liposuction could put these individuals at risk for infection. Similarly, those suffering with chronic kidney issues, heart problems, or connective tissue disorders—including lupus or rheumatoid arthritis—will want to avoid liposuction with laser and seek a more appropriate and safe method. Areas Laser Liposuction Successfully Treats Laser liposuction is an extremely versatile approach to fat removal and successfully removes deposits from many areas of the body with ease. Laser liposuction has proven successful on the chin and jowls, inner and outer thighs, hips, calves, ankles, buttocks, abdomen, flanks and upper back. Additionally, patients see visible results with smartlipo in St. Louis performed on the bra-line, upper arms, pubic mound and back of the neck. On average, 3500 – 5000ml of fat can safely be removed in a single St. Louis laser liposuction session. It’s important to note that this is only a few pounds of fat and a concentrated slimming effect may take several sessions to achieve. Patients should discuss their physical goals with their physician in order to anticipate the number of sessions required for their particular physique aspirations. Permanent Removal Smart lipo in St Louis, MO provides the benefit of permanent fat removal to patients. While it’s not possible to remove all fat cells in the body, the number is significantly reduced through this procedure, leaving patients with a permanently altered physical shape. The most effective way to ensure the continued success of this process is for patients to stick to a personalized diet and exercise plan post-procedure. Keeping weight gain at a minimum will help patients maintain the results of their laser liposuction. The Process of Laser Liposuction Patients who elect to use laser liposuction will undergo the procedure in the comfort of the performing physician’s medical office. Prior to the procedure, areas to be treated will be clearly marked by the physician and local anesthetic will be applied to numb those same areas. The physician then uses a laser to hover over these marks, and as the laser travels, fat cells begin to break up and liquify. The laser will also cause small vessels near the surface to coagulate which will result in less bleeding and swelling after the procedure is complete. Once fat cells begin to liquify, the fluid can then be released using a small microcannula and gentle suction. The entire process results in skin tightening, which leads to a more ideal appearance for patients. Recovery Time And Specifics Smart lipo in St Louis, MO is a painless process that results in minimal bruising for patients. While bruising disappears within 2-3 days, the majority of patients will be able to resume normal daily activities within 24-hours of the procedure. Over-the-counter pain medication is generally recommended to treat any discomfort and patients will be scheduled for a follow up visit as the physician will want to ensure results are on track. Many patients choose to wear compression garments over the treated areas in the days following the procedure to assist the body in finding its new shape successfully.
While it is not a new procedure in the world of cosmetic alterations, the Brazilian buttock augmentation, often referred to as the Brazilian butt lift, has gained popularity in recent years amongst a growing faction looking to recontour their posterior figure. What was once viewed as a procedure exclusive to celebrity status has made its way into mainstream society and is sought after by those looking to redefine their physical appearance for a more personally pleasing profile. Procedural Specifics A Brazilian buttock augmentation is performed by an experienced physician who carefully removes fat cells from one area of the body such as the abdomen, hips, back or thighs using liposuction and transfers it directly into the buttock for added tissue volume. Tumescent liposuction is often the preferred method for initially removing fat as it allows fat cells to be more easily suctioned away once local anesthetic is injected. Once the fat cells are successfully removed, they are combined with platelet rich plasma to promote collagen production and healthy healing. Once the physician is confident the fat cells are revitalized and ready for transfer, they will be placed directly into the buttock at several injection points of varying depth to increase and improve the rate of absorption. Placement that covers a wider surface of the buttocks provides an opportunity for fat cells to more successfully graft to tissue over time. Brazilian Butt Lift Results and Recovery Mild swelling and soreness at the injection points is expected following a Brazilian buttock augmentation. Many patients notice a significant reduction in swelling over the course of 2-3 weeks following treatment. Full recovery is expected within 2-3 months following the procedure as swelling is eliminated and patients become comfortable with their new shape. The attending physician will want to closely monitor the success of the procedure at both a 2-day and 2-week follow up appointment. Patients will need to refrain from sitting directly on their buttocks for 3-weeks following augmentation and will be fitted for a specialized compression garment to help promote healing and healthy blood flow. Prime Candidates for a Brazilian Buttock Augmentation Cosmetic augmentation of any kind is a highly personal choice that results in physical and emotional impacts. Candidates for a Brazilian buttock augmentation are often looking to improve their shape which is genetically inclined towards a less-full appearance. Others may seek treatment as a way to enhance contouring that has been diminished due to significant weight loss. Still others seek out augmentation as a way to enhance their figure when diet and exercise have proved inadequate. Whatever the reasons a patient is considering buttock augmentation, in general it is highly recommended that prospective patients be in good health and maintain an active lifestyle prior to treatment to ensure the most successful results. Safety and Cost of Brazilian Butt Lift A Brazilian buttock augmentation is a very safe and highly effective procedure that comes with the added benefit of minimal side effects and a relatively short recovery period. As an extra precaution, we use an ultrasound for guidance of placement of transferred fat to ensure safety. While results may vary from patient to patient depending on the success of fat cells to graft to tissue, changes are permanent, and patients can expect them to last a lifetime. Because the procedure involves transferring the patient’s own fat cells from one area to another, there is no risk linked to a potential allergic reaction or physical rejection that would likely be a cause for concern with the alternative method of buttock implants. The cost of treatment is based on a number of determining factors including a patient’s body mass index and the total amount of fat to be transferred in order to achieve successful results. This ultimately means the cost of care will look very different for every patient that undergoes this procedure. Prospective patients who have insurance will want to check with their providers prior to receiving services in order to determine if the cost of the procedure could potentially be covered. For those patients looking at services without insurance, the team at the St. Louis Laser Lipo and Vein Center are happy to walk you through the many options available for payments and financial planning.
As the body ages, it naturally begins to retain fat deposits more aggressively in areas like the abdomen, upper arms, buttocks, thighs, knees, hips and near the bra line. These deposits can be the cause of displeasing physical features such as cellulite or disproportionate body tone. Incredible advances in the field of cosmetic technology mean that patients looking to reduce the effects of cellulite in the name of contouring the body are no longer restricted to invasive procedural options. Body FX is an innovative, safe and highly-effective body contouring in St. Louis technology that allows for the reduction of fat deposits and subsequent contouring without undergoing traditional liposuction. Learn more about the Body FX below. BodyFX: The Process This non-invasive technique targets problematic areas of the body through the directed use of radio frequency energy, deep tissue heating, and gentle suction. Patients who elect Body FX will enjoy having the procedure done from the comfort of the physician’s office. Patients can plan on each treatment area requiring at least 30-minutes of concentrated effort to achieve satisfactory results. The attending physician or certified technician uses a handheld device attached to a thermal monitor to regulate the proper amount of energy and heat that’s administered to the treatment area. As the device is moved over the surface of the skin, heat and high-frequency energy waves combined cause the underlying fat deposits to contract. The simultaneous suction action stimulates collagen and ultimately improves skin tone, texture, and overall body contour. This process is designed to be extremely comfortable for patients and in general, most patients report slight heating and suctioning sensation during the process that disappears once the treatment is complete. This is the most popular technique for body contouring in St Louis. Actual Patient – Individual Results May Vary Results and Expectations of Body Contouring in St Louis BodyFX is a gentle and safe way to reduce the appearance of fat deposits and successfully achieve the desired tone and contouring. However, it’s important for patients to understand that in the majority of cases, multiple sessions are required to obtain the desired results. Individual results can vary depending on several factors which including skin tone and severity of the condition prior to treatment. While multiple treatment sessions are recommended, patients are often thrilled to notice some visible change after the first session. After treatment, patients can expect the treated area to be slightly red and potentially sensitive, but these results are not painful and will generally recede within a day or two following the procedure. Minimal discomfort is easily treated with over-the-counter pain medications as needed. Benefits of BodyFX Patients who are looking to avoid an invasive procedure to reduce the appearance of fat deposits will find BodyFX to be simple, safe and effective. Because it’s a non-invasive procedure, there is no need to worry about any of the dangerous side-effects associated with general anesthesia that could include infection due to a hospital stay or depressed respiratory function. Similarly, avoiding a hospital stay means a quick and easy recovery period. Those who elect to have BodyFX treatments experience virtually no downtime post-procedure and are able to return to their daily functions and activities immediately following treatment. As this procedure does not break the surface of the skin, there is no need to handle wound-care. The aesthetic results of BodyFX are just as exciting and successful. This treatment comes with the benefit of skin that appears tighter and smoother at the treatment site as well as the reduced appearance of cellulite. The stimulation of collagen during the procedure leaves many patients with overall improved skin tone and texture. Cost of Treatment Every patient who undergoes BodyFX will be billed differently as the cost of treatment corresponds to the number of sessions required to achieve successful and satisfactory results. The total cost is generally less than the cost for invasive or surgical treatments to similar areas. It’s important that patients discuss their treatment plan with their physician ahead of time in order to understand the time commitment required to contour to their desired preference. Our faces are an undeniable window to the world around us. The face is what others most likely notice first upon meeting and it’s the primary physical feature for sharing expression to fit any given scenario. Similarly, the face is often looked to as an indicator of age. For these reasons and so many others, it’s important to the vast majority of individuals to keep their face looking as youthful as possible for as long as possible. The early development of wrinkles or age spots can be a discouraging situation where the outside of the body doesn’t reflect the youthfulness that’s felt inside. One solution for all these problems are dermal fillers. One of the main causes behind the development of these stressful lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet is an overall loss of volume across facial skin. Volume loss is a natural part of aging but can also be provoked by exposure to UV rays and other harmful elements over an extended period of time. Fighting the effects of volume may seem overwhelming at first glance but incredible advancements in the field of cosmetic technology mean that reversing the effects of volume loss are now as simple as a customized combination of cosmetic injectables accompanied by lip and dermal fillers. A Personalized Approach to Skin Volume Rejuvenation When it comes to cosmetic injectables and lip and dermal fillers, there truly isn’t a one size fits all approach to treatment or care. Deciding on the right type of filler and injectable can be overwhelming. Dermal fillers and injectables come in many forms and treatments and deciding which is right for you should always begin with a thorough consultation and exam with a cosmetic professional in order to determine the product that can best achieve your desired results. Whether you’re looking to highlight your natural bone structure, increase volume, or decrease deep lines and wrinkles, there’s a solution for you. It’s important that patients work alongside a cosmetic professional that understands the importance of evaluating where facial volume is most prominent and working on a long-term solution to target those particular areas. For some patients, wrinkles and loss of definition occur more noticeably around the eyes. For others, sagging begins to occur around the jawline before it shows up anywhere else. Those who lose a significant amount of volume around the mouth tend to have the appearance of a frown while the loss of volume in the cheeks can create a look of significant fatigue. Dermal fillers and injectables applied everyone can lead to an unnatural final appearance, however, a careful approach to targeting problem areas is sure to leave patients looking renewed, rejuvenated and with a fuller and more youthful look in the end. injectables Voluma Xeomin Belotero Radiesse Dysport Restylane Bellafill Juvederm Advantages to Dermal Fillers and Cosmetic Injectables While the successful results associated with lip fillers and injectables are a big draw for patients looking to achieve more voluminous facial skin and overall appearance, the non-invasive nature of many of these techniques is also a great advantage for patients. Many patients that elect this option as a solution to skin restoration can do so in an out-patient capacity in the comfort of an attending physician’s office during regular working hours. Dermal fillers can be used to address a wide range of facial features and areas. A skilled injector will focus on the areas around the face to return the face to its rounder and more youthful shape. Chin: To address the appearance of your chin and/or lower face, fillers can highlight your bone structure in this area. A small or recessed chin can give the appearance of a double chin. Volume loss around the chin increase line or wrinkle formation on the lower face especially around the mouth. Cheeks: Fill hallow areas in the cheek or mid-facial areas, help lift sagging skin, or fill the area to increase volume and lift. As we age the cheeks lose volume and the volume loss leads to skin sagging and wrinkle formation on the face. Loss of cheek volume causes the nasolabial fold to increase and as the skin on the cheeks falls it leads to jowls forming on the lower face and the lines appearing around the mouth. Plumping the cheek up with a filler is one quickest way to make the face look younger. Jaw Line: Often used to strengthen the jawline, improve “double chin” appearance, define a jawline, or address symmetry in this area. A lax jawline causes the skin in the center of the face to loosen and sag. A firm jawline helps some look fit and confident and is a must for people who want to look their best on video calls.
Suffering from a skin condition or noticeable change such as acne, scars, wrinkles, discoloration or sagging is common. Nevertheless, it’s something both men and women are eager to avoid and reverse if at all possible. While options were once limited when it came to reducing the appearance of these skin imperfections, the field of cosmetic technology has made great strides in techniques and strategies used to reduce and even eliminate everything from fine lines and wrinkles to acne scarring and stretch marks. We’ll discuss laser skin resurfacing in St Louis in the following page. Today, many patients looking to improve their overall skin condition are turning to Fractora skin resurfacing. This innovative cosmetic procedure uses radiofrequency technology that works to reverse the effects of lower collagen levels in the skin as well as the results of sun damage or genetic predispositions to changes in pigmentation. Fractora Skin Resurfacing in Detail A combination of micro pins is paired with heat in order to enable Fractora to reach the deep levels of skin where collagen growth can be provoked and promoted. This minimally invasive treatment is equally effective for men and women and comes with the added benefit of being effective across an array of skin tones and color. Fractora is administered in the comfort of the attending physician’s office using a hand-held device that’s slowly and gently moved across the facial skin that’s being treated. As the device moves over the surface, micro punctures are made in the skin which encourages the body to begin the healing process. The body’s natural response to healing is to produce an excess of collagen and the result for patients is improved overall skin tone and appearance within just a few Fractora sessions. Fractora Firm is a secondary form of Fractora that’s specifically designed to treat larger areas of the body beyond facial improvements targeted by Fractora. Many patients combine Fractora and Fractora Firm in a single session in order to achieve maximum results over the long-term. What to Expect from Skin Resurfacing Many patients choose Fractora not only for its successful results but also for its time efficiency. A single laser skin resurfacing session lasts anywhere from 30 to 45-minutes in total and is virtually painless thanks to an application of numbing cream prior to treatment. A slight warming sensation may be experienced during the process but overall, the majority of patients don’t report any discomfort with our St Louis skin solutions. Fractora is primarily used by cosmetic physicians to treat patients looking to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars. However, it has been shown to help reduce the appearance of sagging eyelids, sun damage and the effects of rosacea. While it’s entirely possible to get noticeable results after a single session, for most patients, Fractora is a treatment option divided up into a series of sessions in order to achieve the desired results. Many cosmetic physicians recommend spacing Fractora sessions anywhere from one to six weeks apart depending on the severity of the treatment area and what type of results a patient is hoping for. Preparing for Treatment Once a cosmetic physician has decided a patient may greatly benefit from Fractora, there are a few things that can be done to prepare for a smooth, safe and effective procedure. It is highly recommended that patients undergoing Fractora stop using chemicals, acids, retinoids or exfoliates for at least three to five days before treatment. It’s extremely important for patients to avoid tanning beds or sprays as well as sun exposure for the week leading up to Fractora treatment. Cost Considerations In comparison to a facelift, patients electing Fractora skin resurfacing to improve the youthfulness of skin will find the cost savings fairly significant. As with all cosmetic procedures, the cost of Fractora is very much based on not only the severity of the treatment area but the number of sessions required to achieve the results the patient wants. In order to avoid any financial surprises, it’s important that prospective Fractora patients speak openly with their doctor or esthetician prior to receiving treatment about the financial cost of care. The team at the St. Louis Laser Lipo and Vein Center is happy to discuss financing and payment plan options available directly through our clinic. Start Your Journey to Change When you think Fractora may be the right solution for you, be sure to contact Dr. Wright and his team at the St. Louis Laser Lipo and Vein Center to schedule an initial St Louis skin solutions consultation. Our comprehensive approach to patient care helps each of our clients feel valued, safe and secure knowing they are enjoying a personalized treatment plan that takes medical history and personal preference as a priority. Skin provides the protection we need to thrive, but there are a number of factors that can affect skin’s overall elasticity and overall appearance with the passage of time. Many men and women suffer from the aesthetic effects of sagging or loose skin that is often the results of external factors such as exposure to UV rays. Similarly, the natural aging process causes dramatic changes in the skin as the levels of collagen and elastin produced drop over time. For many women, sagging skin becomes an issue after childbirth. For both men and women who work hard to reduce overall body fat, significant weight loss can prove frustrating in the excess skin pockets it leaves behind. This can be a frustrating side effect of the hard work that’s been put into becoming a healthier individual. Where a healthy diet and regular exercise can often make an enormous impact on muscle tone, these efforts are unfortunately often ineffective at reversing the effects of sagging skin. For individuals looking for a safe and effective solution to tightening and firming skin, the field of cosmetic technology has blossomed in recent years. Over time, patients continue to find they have more and more options when it comes to less invasive and more efficient procedures. When it comes to tightening skin across the body and treating wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, jowls prospective patients are turning more frequently to the many benefits associated with Forma – St Louis skin tightening procedure. Understanding Forma Skin Tightening Treatments Forma is an FDA-approved skin tightening treatment that utilizes radio frequency technology to help treat loose skin and the development of wrinkles. As radio frequency waves are directed at certain areas of the body, deep layers of the skin are heated to a point of contraction which ultimately stimulates collagen production and over time, improves skin’s elasticity and smooth appearance. Forma provides the attending technician or physician the versatility of switching out applicator sizes meaning Forma is just as beneficial when it comes to treating areas such as the knees, arms or abdomen as it is at positively tightening the skin around the delicate areas surrounding the eyes and mouth. Administering Forma Skin Tightening Treatments Patients who elect Forma skin tightening treatments will enjoy the benefit of an outpatient procedure that can be performed in the comfort of a medical office. Once the areas to be treated have been clearly marked, Forma is administered using a handheld device that sends radio frequency energy deep into the skin. Once the desired layer is reached, this energy is transformed into regulated heat and works to promote the production of collagen. For patients looking for a procedure that comes with minimal discomfort, Forma proves to be a mild experience that is often reported to be painless. At most, patients report feeling a warmness at the treatment area and the non-invasive nature of this type of treatment means patients are free to return to their daily activities immediately following a treatment session. While many patients can expect to see visible results after only one treatment, it is often recommended that patients put a long-term plan into place to maintain optimal results. For many individuals, this consists of at least five to eight sessions spaced one to two weeks apart. Safety Factors Because Forma is a non-invasive treatment option, patients who elect this procedure to tighten skin enjoy an experience that does not involve any of the risks associated with a lengthy hospital stay, general or local anesthesia or prolonged downtime following treatment. While some patients experience slight redness and swelling after treatment, this generally disappears within a day or two and can be treated with over the counter pain medication as needed. Cost Considerations As with all cosmetic procedures, the final bill associated with Forma treatments will vary between patients according to the size and severity of the area being treated as well as the number of sessions required to achieve successful results. The team at the St. Louis Laser Lipo and Vein Center is here to help walk patients through the many payment and financing plans available through the clinic. In comparison to the costs associated with traditional face lifts or tummy tucks, Forma is considerably less expensive and is a popular choice amongst patients looking for similar results within a more modest budget. Schedule Your Consultation for a St Louis Skin Tightening Procedure Today Those prospective patients who are considering the benefits of Forma St Louis skin tightening treatment will want to make the first steps towards change by scheduling an initial consultation with Dr. Wright at the St. Louis Laser Lipo and Vein Center.

Just like the rest of the human body, our skin will inevitably change over time. While the development of ages spots and other areas of pigmentation change are natural as we age, that doesn’t mean it’s a condition that has to be permanent. For many patients, these noticeable spots are closely linked to a feeling of lost youthfulness. While makeup is a temporary fix for hiding age spots, there are long-lasting skin solutions to be considered when you’re hoping to regain the look of skin you love like the IPL – Photo Skin Rejuvenation. Photo skin rejuvenation is an innovative skin solution to evening out the pigment in the skin and ultimately reducing the appearance of discoloration and age spots. Light cast at specific wavelengths is used to target problematic areas, creating a more youthful, even and smooth look to the skin over the course of treatment. Professionals in the field of cosmetic medicine have seen photo skin rejuvenation effective at treating age spots, the appearance of broken capillaries and blood vessels as well as facial veins. Removing Age Spots with Photo Skin Rejuvenation Quick, safe and effective, photo skin rejuvenation utilizes broadband light energy to remove skin blemishes and leave the skin looking healthy and clear. The light gently targets the problematic area and converts to heat energy which is quickly absorbed by the skin, creating a painless and non-invasive experience for the patient. Patients looking to remove the evidence of age spots often elect photo skin rejuvenation due to the fact it’s a painless procedure that comes without side effects and doesn’t require any recovery or downtime from daily activities. At most, patients report a slight red or pink hue at the treatment site that disappears within 24 hours. Assessing Skin for Photo Rejuvenation Treatment In order to provide the best results using photo skin rejuvenation, a cosmetic professional will need to take time to assess not only a patient’s skin tone but the type and overall condition before performing treatment. Based on these findings, light waves can be adjusted as needed for a customized approach to skincare and rejuvenation. Lumecca Treatments A popular choice amongst patients when it comes to photo skin rejuvenation is Lumecca. This light treatment technique targets skin imperfections including age spots, veins, and discoloration with quick and painless results. Lumecca is administered using a handheld device in the comfort of a doctor’s office and patients are asked to wear protective goggles as lightwave are used to target the treatment area. Over the two to three days following the procedure, patients will notice age spots and points of discoloration begin to fade. While a noticeable improvement in skin can be seen after the first session of Lumecca, most physicians recommend a series of sessions to achieve desirable and long-lasting results. Safety Photo skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive, out-patient treatment option for skin that can be done in a physician’s office without requiring any type of hospital stay. Because photo skin rejuvenation doesn’t require a topical anesthetic, patients don’t have to worry about an allergic reaction. The absence of general anesthesia for this treatment removes any and all risks associated with a lengthy hospital stay or recovery period. Patients who have undergone photo skin rejuvenation have reported redness at the site of treatment, but this most often disappears quickly after treatment is complete. Cost As with all cosmetic procedures, the final price tag associated with photo skin rejuvenation is highly dependent on a patient’s skin type, the severity of the treatment area and the number of sessions required to achieve successful results. Semaglutide for Weight Loss: Does it work, and what do experts recommend? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 42% of Americans are considered obese. For years, people have been trying all sorts of methods and medications in search of the perfect weight loss solution. A new trend has been receiving considerable attention: people using the diabetes drug Semaglutide for weight loss. But what does the research say about this use of the drug? Do health experts recommend Semaglutide for weight loss purposes? Dr. Wright answers these questions and more. What is Ozempic (Semaglutide)? Ozempic is one of the most widely recognized brand names of Semaglutide, a weekly injection that helps lower blood sugar by helping the pancreas make more insulin. Semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic, is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. This means it mimics the action of GLP-1 by binding to and activating GLP-1 receptors in the body. It is not approved for weight loss, but some physicians prescribe it for that purpose. Ozempic, known generically as semaglutide, was approved in 2017 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in adults with type 2 diabetes. How does Ozempic or Semaglutide work? Ozempic works by mimicking a naturally occurring hormone in body called GLP-1. As these hormone levels rise, molecules go to your brain, telling it you’re full. It also slows digestion by increasing the time it takes for food to leave the body, similar to the effect of bariatric surgery. This can help reduce overall calorie intake, leading to weight loss. Semaglutide, as a GLP-1 receptor agonist, utilizes the body’s natural mechanisms for blood sugar control and appetite regulation to help manage type 2 diabetes and assist in weight loss. This relationship with GLP-1 makes semaglutide an effective treatment option for individuals seeking to improve their metabolic health. It is sometimes prescribed off-label for weight management, and its weight loss benefits have led to the development of semaglutide-based treatments specifically targeting obesity, such as Wegovy. What is a GLP-1? GLP-1, or Glucagon-Like Peptide-1, is a hormone produced in the gut that significantly regulates blood sugar levels and appetite. It is part of the incretin family, which consists of hormones that increase insulin release from the pancreas in response to meals. GLP-1 is crucial for maintaining glucose homeostasis and has become a target for obesity and diabetes treatments. How GLP-1 Medications Work The L-cells in the intestine secrete GLP-1 after eating. It has several important functions: Stimulates Insulin Secretion: GLP-1 enhances insulin secretion from the pancreas, which helps lower blood sugar levels after eating. Inhibits Glucagon Release: Glucagon is a hormone that raises blood sugar levels. GLP-1 inhibits its release, further helping to control blood sugar. Slows Gastric Emptying: By slowing the stomach emptying, GLP-1 helps you feel full longer after eating, reducing overall food intake. Reduces Appetite: GLP-1 acts on the brain to decrease appetite and increase feelings of satiety, which can lead to weight loss. Improves Insulin Sensitivity: GLP-1 enhances the body’s sensitivity to insulin, making it more effective at lowering blood sugar levels. Does Ozempic work for weight loss purposes? Research shows that the active ingredient in Ozempic, semaglutide, does work for weight loss. However, it’s important that people continue to make lifestyle changes, such as eating right and exercising, to help their weight loss. Ozempic is not approved for weight loss, but liraglutide is. What’s the difference between Semaglutide and Tirezeptide? Both were developed to treat diabetes and were found to be helpful in weight loss. Semaglutide comes in lower doses and is a peptide that stimulates the GLP 1 receptor. Tirezepatide doses are higher, and it works on both the GLP1 and GIP receptors. Tirzepatide is available in higher doses and may provide more significant weight loss effects. Are there benefits to taking Semaglutide for weight loss? Ozempic or the generic Semaglutide can help people lose weight, reducing the risk for many other serious health conditions, such as heart problems. Semaglutide treatments can also be used as an alternative to bariatric surgery for some obese patients. The weight loss achieved with surgery is usually much greater and lasts longer than medications. There are many benefits of using Semaglutide for weight loss, listed below. However, it’s important to also consider the side effects and what will be personally effective in the long term.
